Continue developing your Little Mermaid, Under the Sea kids party with these clever crafts, great activities and themed games.
Games
- Neptune's Fork: (pin the tail on the donkey using an enlarged poster of Neptune and cut-out tridents to place in Neptune's hand)
- Crab Races: This is the good, old-fashioned P.E. class staple! Have the kids crab walk relay race on all fours, with their bellies facing upwards.
- Bubble Blowing Contest: This game can be done using bubble gum or bubble solution – depending upon your choice. If you choose the bubble solution, an outdoor venue is a better location. Otherwise, just cover your floor with a tarp or dropcloth.
- Landlubber Relay Race: This is a simple relay race, but the contestants have to wear flippers and snorkels! Rather than passing the baton, the racers will exchange the flippers and snorkels. You can set the rules --- have the contestants race backwards, forwards or in teams.
Crafts & Activities
- Sand Castle Competition: This is a great option for an outdoor party or for those parents who are not faint of heart! Spread a large tarp with wet sand, and let the kids have fun. Provide plastic shovels and molds. However, you must have a nearby and significant clean-up area, to wash off the wet mess!
- Colored Sand Paperweights: You can pick up the supplies for this activity at your local craft store. Just pour alternating layers of colored sand into a small decorative bottle. Cork the bottle. Tie it with a ribbon and you've got a neat paperweight.
- Shell Jewelry or Art: Pre-drill decorative shells (about the size of a walnut) so that the kids can thread and knot black silk cording through the shell to make an attractive necklace. You can find the silk cording at your local fabric or craft store. If your guests are not jewelry-wearers, consider creating decorative boxes (small wooden boxes from your local craft store, that have already been painted black) where the kids use cool-melt glue to affix the shell to the box's lid.
